Hidden Meadow: A Cleveland Park Gem Designed by Colleen Healey

Meandering corridors, textured walls, contrasting wood types, and a hidden meadow showcase Colleen Healey’s beautiful design aesthetic.

In a stunning renovation, Colleen Healey created a light-filled, tactile, and client-focused space in Cleveland Park. The design emphasizes texture, symmetry, and materiality. The carefully selected finishes brilliantly celebrate the natural beauty of each surface, putting feel and form at the forefront of the design.

During the demolition process, hidden treasures - original pocket doors and hand-built trusses - were uncovered, inspiring Colleen and her client to preserve the building’s original character. Exposed walls and thoughtful transitions between old and new elements tell the story of the home's history while embracing modern design. Colleen paid special attention to the material pallet in each room to create seamless connections and ensure a harmonious flow throughout the home.

A hidden courtyard, affectionately named the "Hidden Meadow," connects the main residence with a backyard ADU, offering a serene retreat amidst the urban bustle.

Overall, the renovation reflects a philosophy that balances light, fun, and functionality with sustainable practices. By embracing the client's vision and blending it with creative design solutions, the project transforms everyday spaces into a welcoming home that’s as practical as it is inspiring.
